ABC: Acme Bar and Coffee

I finally step foot at this ever famous cafe yesterday for breakfast with the girls. This cafe is listed among those must-go cafe for coffee. I have been pestering the girls to have coffee at the cafe and we finally made it there yesterday.

We were quite early - reached at 10am and the place was already full.

For your information, if you want to dine here for breakfast over the weekend, kindly call in for reservation as the place is usually full during the weekends and public holidays.

This was what I had yesterday - their big breakfast set.

There are variety of selections to pick for your plate from the choices of eggs to your bread, the meat of your choice and side dishes.

And I had it with my long black.

Desserts are served after 11.30am and we had the ever famous sizzling brownies.

Although there has been a lot of good reviews of this desserts but I personally don't like it. I just don't like it! It has this weird taste and I don't like it.

Make yourself to Troika building opposite of PNB Park where Acme is and experience the food. Enjoy!

Mukha Cafe, TTDI

It's the 1st day of February 2014 and it's a public holiday. And since it's a long public holiday, my girls and I decided to have a quick catch-up over breakfast. You knowlah how busy my girls are nak jumpa kena buat appointment. I saw this very interesting All-day breakfast promo over Groupon at Kaffe Cafe and decided to purchase it for our breakfast meet-up. It was damn cheap, 4pax from RM45. Cheap-skate we are! 

And today is the first day for the promo and my gosh, the queue was so long we decided to have our breakfast at Mukha Cafe instead. Nasib baik sederet jer!

Anyway, I've tasted Mukha's coffee before and I kinda like it but I have never dine in the cafe. This is my first time having breakfast at Mukha.

I like their concept. Well, they are among the first cafes to apply this concept. Very cosy. Oklah, tak bising sangat. Tapi service agak slow sikit. Sikit jer takpe, boleh dimaafkan. But they serve our coffee very fast which is good!

I had their Rise and Shine (RM16). It was Ok, not that bad. I've tasted some bad breakfast set before but this one, it's a 3.5 over 5. The beef bacon was a bit hard but it's ok. I had their long black first and latte for my second cup. Takpe, dah tak breastfeed jadi boleh lah nak tala berapa banyak cup of coffee pon.

The girls had their egg benedict and their weekend special which I have forgotten the name - something avocado.

Apalah meet-up tanpa desserts. We waited until 12pm just for their desserts. We ordered Red Velvet, something peanut butter cake and the other 2 - I can't remember what they are called. They are all delicious.

This is definitely a place to dine - for coffee and food.

The Good Batch, Uptown Damansara

I'm not sure if I have mentioned before that my office is located at Uptown Damansara and I can say, it is the most convenience location ever - especially for food.

I am surrounded by variety of good restaurants and warungs that serve good-marvellous food from serving hot roti canai and nasi lemak for breakfast to the cheapest nasi campur with good sambal belacan for lunch and to marvellous taste of coffee from morning to the evening. Pendek kata nak cari makanan memang senanglah sampai kadang-kadang tak tahu apa nak makan. 

Last Wednesday, my department decided to have lunch at The Good Batch as a farewell lunch celebration for one of our department member. After months of operation, this is actually my first time dining at the restaurant.

The crowd wasn't that bad. Memandangkan lokasi hanya di belakang office, we managed to reach the restaurant before the peak lunch hour. And I have to say that they have variety of good food. Definitely recommending the place to all of you food lovers. To be honest, I don't remember the names of the food that we ordered tapi semuanya sedap-sedap belaka.

I don't remember what this food is called but it has slices of Salmon on it and according to the eater, it was superb!

This is what I had the other day. Don't know what it's called but it has minced beef with potato and egg. A bit salty but it was good!

To me, this restaurant is 3.5 out of 5. Unfortunately, I didn't have their coffee. Was there for lunch hence no coffee. Would definitely go again for their cup of coffee.

And to you food lovers, The Good Batch is located at Damansara Uptown - the same row of Wondermilk and located next to York service centre. They are open every Tuesday to Sunday and close on Monday. Very easy to find. The restaurant is facing the main road.

Melur & Thyme, KLCC

In-conjunction of celebrating our final exam paper for this semester, we decided to have lunch at Melur & Thyme, KLCC yesterday. This was also a farewell lunch celebration for Iru as yesterday marked her second last day here in Malaysia. She has been one consistent friend I have had throughout the past 3 semesters. She has been persistently in making sure that we did well for all of our assignments. I owe her big time!! She will definitely be missed!

I am definitely make a visit to Maldives, Insya Allah!

So anyway, back to Melur & Thyme. This was actually my first time dining at the restaurant. I have been wanting to eat there for the longest time. It has a very interesting interior and they serve fusion food - East meets West kinda of food.

Overall, I give 3.5 for creativity but the food ..... 2.5 out of 5. Definitely not recommending this to you people unless if you desperately need to eat fusion food.

For those who love duck or lamp, well they have variety of selection from satay to Grilled lamb. Iru have Duck Satay (small size). She likes it though (because she loves duck)

They serve it with buns too. I guess it's the East meets West kinda thing - Satay and the buns.

Mine was the Grilled Herb Chicken. The chicken tastes so-so, a bit dry and hard. But I kind of like the sauce though!

Jojo ordered a baby crab that comes together with a plate of white rice. As what it is called, a baby crab, the crab really is in a baby sized crab. 

At very restaurants that I go, desserts have always been the food that I'm looking forward to. And as for Melur & Thyme, I was looking forward for the Chocolate lava cake, unfortunately, they don't serve it yesterday. So I went for the brownies.

Again, I was disappointed that they can't serve the brownie with vanilla ice-cream. They replaced it with chocolate ice-cream instead. Chocolate brownie with chocolate ice-cream doesn't goes well. Muak kot! And the brownie was a bit dry too. 

Jojo ordered the Carrot Cake. According to her, the cake was a bit dry and she doesn't like it.

Overall, the food is just so-so. Hence, no recommendation for this. But if you insist on having to dine at Melur & Thyme, they are at the Ground Floor (same floor and row as Maxis), opposite Harrods cafe and located next to the exit where pick-up & drop off area (Isetan entrance).

The Daily Grind, Bangsar Village 1

I have this weird craving for delicious waffles for almost a week now. Seeing a friend posted a scrumptious looking waffles has increased my craving level. Texted the girls for a coffee session and persuaded them to have dinner at The Daily Grind.

I have never been to The Daily Grind before. I've seen friends going in, dining at the restaurant, food reviews and it's really a must-try restaurant.

My inital plan was to have the waffles only but ended up having their scrumptious Triple Stack burger.

Well, I did not take any photos of the burgers ordered by the girls but they were all really delicious. They have variety of burgers from beef to chicken to mushroom. Ah! Will definitely make another visit to this restaurant and I know who to bring along. Definitely the husband because he is really a hantu burger and I'm sure he's going to love it.

The portion is big and my advise is to go with an empty stomach else you won't be able to finish the whole burger which will be a huge waste. 

Oh, and they make their own sauces too - chilli and ketchup. The sauces are made by boiling down stock made from scratch and not from the cube and they were marvellous! source here

We had a 20 minutes break for Maghrib before having the dessert. And yes, I've fulfilled my waffles craving.

The picture doesn't do any justice but my goodness, it was fantastic. It can be improved though! The waffles wasn't that crunchy enough. I guess maybe because they were made before hand and it gets cold by the time it was served. This small portion of waffles was shared among 4 hungry ladies. Hence, each get a small portion of it but it was all ok. Sharing is caring, no? 

The Daily Grind is definitely a must-try restaurant. It's located at Bangsar Village 1, LG 8 Lower Ground, situated right at the entrance of BV 1 facing BV 2 (underneath the linked bridge).

That Latte Place @ Jalan Persiaran Ritchie, Ampang

I am so excited about this new cafe that I really need to write about it. In fact, I just got back from having brunch at the cafe.

It was actually recommended by one of my course-mate. She is a regular customer of this cool cafe located at Jalan Persiaran Ritchie off Jalan Ampang Hilir (behind Great Eastern Mall). We have been planning to have brunch together at this cafe for the longest time and finally made it today. We decided to have our discussion for our group assignment-cum-brunch at this cool cafe. OMG, it is really a cool cafe.

That Latte Place is located at Yayasan Seni Berdaftar, Artisan Centre Gallery. I fell in love with place the moment I arrived. It's like love at the first sight. Chewah!!

And the food - the food is marvellous and at a very reasonable price. I had their Pancake with Fruit Salad together with Americano and it only cost me RM13.90. Isn't it cheap?

I had my second cup of Latte and it was good. It doesn't taste that sweet - ngam ngam taste, if you know what I mean.

Al-Amin Xinjiang Muslim Restaurant

A colleague recommended a new Chinese Muslim restaurant couple of months back. It's called Al-Amin Xinjiang Muslim Restaurant located at SS2 Mall facing the SS2 residence. And so, we (my usual kaki makan gang & I) made a visit to this restaurant last September.

These were what we had that day.

I can't remember the name of this delicious food I had. It's a beef something. Very spicy.

Overall, it's a 3.5 out of 5 for me. The food is so-so only (for my taste buds). But the chicken kebab/satay is super delicious. 

If you're into Xinjiang Chinese cuisine, please make your way to this new restaurant.

Chopstix Uptown

I noticed their signboard few months back but I never have the guts to go to their restaurant because 

1. I'm not sure if it's Halal
2. I'm positively sure that it's one of those Chinese Baba-Nyonya restaurant hence refer to No. 1

Last week, my colleague suggested that we have our lunch at Chopstix. I was hesitant at first but kalau kita tak pergi kita tak tahu kan. Since it's just few minutes away from my office, so why not!

Good news is although they are not certified Halal but they are Pork-free. This could probably be because they sell liquor, I'm not sure but yea, it's good and safe to eat for Muslims.

I had their Curry Laksa and it taste good. It can be improved though. I give 3.5 out of 5.

The prices are reasonable and they serve quite a tasteful laksa. I had their Thai Drumstick Curry Chicken the other day. It was so-so only but the Nyonya Curry Asam Laksa was very very good.

They open daily from morning to night (I think!) and they are on facebook too. So, check them out!

For those who work/stay nearby, this is a place for you to check on. They are at the same row of Village Park, right next the the kedai mamak.

China House

The highlight of my Saturday visits to Penang, apart from my first experience of giving lecture to 15 Mass Comm students was the activity I had after that with the bunch of funny-entertaining Mass Comm students.

I was picked by two of these super generous-funny-interesting third year students at the airport and they also were the responsible ones to send me back to the airport along with driving my lecturer and I to Penang town for lunch. Yus and Kamal were very nice and helpful and I must say, their hospitality memang tip-top.

I don't even spend a single cent on this trip as everything was covered by my lecturer - from the breakfast upon my arrival to lunch and the coffee session we had after that. Minyak pon di tanggung beb! Rasa bersalah sungguh but anyway, syukur atas pemberianNya.

I had the best breakfast at Sardon having nescafe panas and roti jala. Memang dah lama mengidam and I finally got the chance to visit this very happening place for breakfast during my short visit to Penang. Takda gambar sebab malu lah depan students kan but yea, it was fun!

After the class, we headed to town for lunch - to the original Kapitan restaurant located at the centre of Penang road, which I had their best served Nasi Beriyani Ayam. Gambar tak ada to justify but oh my, I've finally fulfilled my craving.

After lunch, we headed straight to this super nice-cozy coffee house which I fall in-love the moment I step my foot at the place.

This cafe is located at Victoria Street near the Port Weld entrance. It was build on a old Chinese building, own by a Mat Salleh lady.

And what I love so much about this place was the desserts that they served. My goodness. Unfortunately, I didn't get the chance to taste the cakes as I just had a large bowl of Nasi Beriyani Ayam but I will definitely go back to this cafe and taste all of their cakes again someday.

And of course, the taste of their caffe latte was superbly delicious. The coffee taste perfectly good, oh my!!

All cakes are between RM10 - RM12 per slice and they serve quite a big slice for the cake. They serve variety of cakes, my goodness, my sliver is literally on the table as I type this and they are all baked freshly by the chef.

This is a must place to visit if you are in Penang. It has the perfect ambience, the perfect servings, a good coffee and they have a Wine room for their customers to enjoy their drinks at the most comfortable way.

I will visit this place again, Insya Allah.

AidilAdha lunch menu

Salam to all my muslim brothers and sisters. How was your AidilAdha? And I'm sure my non-Muslim friends were enjoying their 1 day public holiday yesterday.

Anyway, I actually drafted a post on Qurban and what it means to me but I guess I'll post it up later as I would love to share the lunch menu we had yesterday for the family first, heeeeee.

As usual, my mother the chef prepared the scrumptious food and I, tolong sikit-sikit je. We had Nasi Tomato ala-Maklang as what called by the lil cousins.

The below picture was the first step of preparing the kari dalca, the top left is the nasi tomato and top right is the fried chicken. 

And after hours of fighting in the kitchen,

Voila! Nasi tomato was served on AidilAdha.

I had a fun family time during AidilAdha. I was busy the whole of last week hence I took the opportunity to spend this 1 day with the family, especially with lil Iman. This was also her first nasi tomato - out of her ordinary nasi separa lembek and she loved it, yey!

And it's good to know that everyone had it more than just a plate.

Bangkok Day 3 & 4

Continuing my #patahkaki trip at Bangkok, day 3 was mainly on shopping (not that I've done anything else besides shopping) but this shopping activity covered my whole day. We went to the none other than the Platinum Mall. I did not get the chance to snap any photos during this shopping spree activity as I was clearly busy doing my shopping, pictures are all courtesy of Google.

Platinum Mall has 2 sections - old and new wings. My advise is to just go to the old wing as it offers a lot more variety stuff and way cheaper compared to the new wing. 

Platinum Mall is a place where you can get cheap clothes, accessories, shoes, bags - all the women stuff on a wholesale price but in order for you to get it, one must purchase minimum of 2 barang in 1 shop else it will be on a normal price which is not so cheap. I believe, this is the place where those blogshop owners get their barang-barang as the clothes that I found there looks pretty much.... familiar.

Apa tak menggila kau tengok barang-barang kat sini hence why I spent my whole day here.

We went straight to the Central World for our company official dinner. Sunguhlah cantik timingnya, after penat bershopping kita isi tenaga dengan makanan.

Day 4

Did not do much as it was the day to bid farewell to Bangkok. I was so tired and for the fact that I was looking forward to being home with my loved ones, I decided not to follow the gang for the final tour at the nearby mall. After having my breakfast, I went straight to my room and rest! Penat kot. After all, our flight was at 1400hour (Bangkok time) hence we need to get all pack and ready to go by 1100hour.

Traffic was fine on that day. I had a great chat with one of the GM on our way to the airport. Dorang ni dah macam mak-mak kita je. Takda discrimination among different races and that is why I love this company so much.

That's the end of my company trip. It was a wonderful trip, definitely a tiring one. 

Bangkok has changed a lot and one of the most obvious changes was the fact that they have more Halal restaurant around the city centre hence there's a high possibility of me coming back to Bangkok *teeheeee*.

Phewwww, Bangkok done. Now for the Sydney post pulak. Have a nice weekend everyone!
