Sekali lafaz, sah!

About a month ago, one of my closest friends has officially signed the agreement letter of becoming a devoted loving wife to her beloved husband. The solemnization was held at her house the night of Merdeka Day followed by her reception on the next day and the groom's side the following day - one whole stretch!

The wedding prep was done about a year ago assuming that she'll pass her ACCA exams in November 2011 which she did! The initial plan was to have her wedding somewhere early this year but somehow the news of her sister and brother wanting the same thing as she is which is getting married, she decided to have hers in between them siblings. Oh, I can assure you that there were hell lot of dramas happening and finally, August 31, 2012 marked the day that ends her singlehood.

Syomir did the dress while she was "painted" nicely by Najeeb. She looked stunning in that dress. 

Dengan sekali lafaz Adil sah sebagai suami. I laughed during the akah, don't ask me why.

I always love akah nikah ceremony. It reminds me of my own. You can feel the love aura in the room. You can see how in love the bride and groom are.

The reception took place the next day at Dewan Perdana Felda.

It was a good ceremony. Though it was a bit delayed but it was a good ceremony.

To Taj and Adil, congratulations and may this new journey be showered with lots of love and happiness. Shit happens and you may find that your partner is too annoying for you to handle but never give up hope on each other. Never stop communicating. Once you done that, it's a gone case! Love much xo.

Lucky girl I am

Had a fun day yesterday. Had the usual girls-meet-up-day with the girlfriends to accompany one of them for material hunting. Never knew that material hunting can be so much fun especially when you're surrounded by those who are sucker for materials. Walked the entire building just for the sake of it and let me tell you, it was hell of a fun day!

Had dinner with the troops at William to discuss over our mini road trip but ended up receiving a surprise wedding gift from them instead. I'm truly honestly flattered by the gift, I cried the moment they announced it. I'm over the moon weyh, like dah sampai Pluto!

Cerita bunga telur

When mom was preparing for my wedding day, she asked our opinion on whether to have bunga telur or just the fruit cake that everyone received during the night reception. She has always wanted to have bunga telur on our wedding (either me or my sis'). She said it's very sentimental; very traditional. But she never mentioned the significant of giving bunga telur to the guests. It's something that none of us were aware off.

We ended up having both the bunga telur and the fruit cake as the gift to the guests. Bunga telur is for the people who renjis-ed us and the fruit cake, well, the fruit cake is for the guests who came that night. Mom put all her affords and spent her time making the bunga telur herself. She spent roughly a solid one month in getting the bunga telur done. Credit to her, the bunga telur turned out to be very very pretty (though I never admitted it to her) but she knows that her creativity was credited by us. Even the aunties couldn't believe that the bunga telur was diy-ed by my mother till the night that they saw my mom had to re-do some of the bunga telur as it was broken after we put an egg to it. The egg was too big and heavy for the bunga telur. Little that I know that bunga telur can be very fragile to its' surrounding. Heh!

Ok, this is not the point.

When I was at Kedah for the reception, I was helping the family to get the bunga telur done. The MIL bought roughly about 700 bunga telur-s for us to prepare. They were serving the guests with bunga telur and bunga telur sahaja. One of the aunties asked did us know (there were 8 of us that night laboring to do the bunga telur) the significant of a bunga telur in a wedding? None of us answered mainly because we were tired or bored of doing the bunga telur.

She continued "it's the symbol of fertility" and when you present your guests with bunga telur, the least that you can get is their blessing and prayers for the bride and groom to "produce" good quality of children, Insyaallah. And it makes sense.

A woman produces egg, hence the telur dalam sarung in a bunga telur while a man produces thousands of sperms that run inside a woman's womb and when the lucky "one" successfully entered the egg, well you know the rest of the processes right? Dan akhirnya terlahirlah seorang bayi.

You don't get bunga telur in a wedding nowadays. It's either you receive a box of chocolate or an aromatic smells of potpourri. We missed the fact that bunga telur brings its' own meaning to a wedding and to the bride and groom.

Jadi, to all the future bride and groom, jangan lupa kasi bunga telur ye. It takes only 45 minutes of your time to get the eggs stimmed and roughly about 2 hours to put all the eggs in the bunga telur depending on your quantity.

Wedding review #1

There were only two things that I love about my wedding. Not that hate them all, it's just that they were the ones that I'm most satisfied. First is the wedding attire; both for the akad nikah & reception and the other one is the hantarans.

So here it goes:-

1) Solemnization - 15 January 2011, 10.30 am

Designed by my mother. It was inspired by a dress she saw at a laundry at Bangsar Shopping Centre. She fell in love with the dress the moment she saw it. She took lots and lots of pictures over the dress. I can see how "in love" she was with the dress.

I didn't go for any professional wedding designers to design my wedding attire. I don't see the point of hiring one which will cost me arms and legs just to do a dress that can only be worn once for the next million of years. I decided to hire a dear cousin of mine who is very talented in making wedding attires and is able to fulfill the needs of having a very nice dress that I can wear on my akad nikah. For the record, he is a responsible beads-sewer for one of the top wedding designer in Malaysia. And with that, I am confident with his taste and workmanship.

We went for materials hunting and believe it or not, with the connection he has with Jakel's management team, we got all materials for 50% discount or more for all materials bought. Dirt cheap.

After months of waiting, he made my akah nikah dress a reality. I fell in love with the dress even when it was 50% completed; where no beads and what not on the dress. I love the simple cutting and the detailing. Very neat! I love how the dress shaped nicely with my body. I love love the dress.

He altered the selendang-cum-veil that was used during my engagement and add in more beads to make it looks lovelier. And for the record, he sewed it with his own bare hands without any help from the sewing machine. *tabik spring*

I thought of keeping the dress for my future daughter *chewahh* to be worn on her akah nikah, Insyallah. But that is just an angan-angan. Kak Zue, a wedding consultant has asked whether I am selling the dress but I said No. I'm not planning to sell the dress not rent it out. I'm keeping it for the usage of my future children. Wah! But the selendang-cum-veil is on sale. I'm renting the veil out. Price is negotiable.



2) Reception - 15 January 2011, 8.00 pm

I was flipping one of the Pengantin magazines and saw a very long dress that catches my heart. I grab a paper and designed a dress instantly. I then send it to the responsible person to ask whether she is able to make a new dress that look similarly to what I have designed. Lebih bagus kalau dia boleh buat sebijik-sebijik. I wanted the same color scheme as per picture above and Alhamdulillah, she managed to make the dress as per requested. I was trilled when I saw the dress during the first fitting session. I was praying hard for the dress to turn out to be as what I expected. I got to see the dress only days before my wedding day and boy, how happy I was when I saw it hanging by the closet. It doesn't look nice there hanging without a body in it. But it looked perfectly nice when I started wearing it; at least for me I think it is!

Isn't it lovely? *baik kau cakap yes!*


All in all, I'm most satisfied with these two attires that I had on my wedding. It's very simple and very ME! I do not have to spend a dim on it. It was beyond my expectations and both of them were on a reasonable price. Syukur Alhamdulillah.
