The last 48 hours

• All I asked from Izwan was a slice of Secret recipe's Indulgence chocolate cake. I had the sudden craved for the cake when we were out to pay his mom's bill. I wanted something sweet and sugar high. So I dragged him to Secret Recipe after paying those bills.
  


• Had the biggest fight with Izwan. I hit him by accident and I hit him hard; on the left shoulder. I think his left shoulder would have been swollen. I put my full energy through the hitting. Poor him but he deserves the hit. Hence, the cake *teehee*



• I fought with my mom. What's new?! But for the very first time, dad was on my side. Ajlaa 1 - mommy 0. Yey!



• Kakak has been the sweetest person of all time. She's been very very tolerant. Oh, for your info, my sister and I, we fought almost everyday. But for the past few days, she has been an angel. Kakak, lu memang awesome!



• I went to pick my hantarans from my cousin's house yesterday's night. Besides my wedding attires, the hantarans are my fav. It matches the concept of simplicity and I love each and everyone of it. Very minimal, very simple and very straight forward. Tak serabut mata memandang.



• Today will be the Khatam Quran ceremony. I thought I might not be able to joint the Khatam due to the time of the month. Unfortunately, Miss Red has decided not to make its' present. So, I have to mengaji-lah. Aisehman. Jangan kau gatal nak keluar time mengaji nanti sudah.

I guess that all about it. See ya when I see ya. Oh selepas menjadi Puan. Happy Friday lovebirds!

Poyo bride2be update #8

I guess this will be the last entry on an attempt of becoming a poyo bride-to-be. A week to go and I don't think there'll be anymore post relating to the event after this. And if there is, I don't think I have the time to post about it anyway.

So what have I got so far?

Honestly, I don't know. My only concern was the invitation card which I have successfully delivered; hand delivered and also via Pos Malaysia. Alhamdulillah, Pos Malaysia has done a pretty good job delivering my babies although there have been some delay with the delivering process but Alhamdulillah, even as far as Sarawak has received my card. With so, thank you Pos Malaysia for your service.

Wedding attire - I am deeply in love with my nikah attire. Deeply! It's simple and super nice. Not to brag but it is definitely my favourite. Thanks to my dear cousin for the hard work. I love love my baju nikah. I shall post about it after the event. Kalau post sekarang tak surprise lah. The reception attire; well, the beading is still in progress. I went for the fitting last week and I kinda like it but not at the same level of "like" towards the baju nikah. Maybe because I haven't seen the whole dress yet. Hopefully it will turn out to be as expected. We shall wait and see.

Other than that, well, I totally have no idea. To my surprise, I have yet to feel the excitement. If you ask me how I'm feeling now, I would probably just smile at you. But one thing for sure, I just want this to be done and over with. Enough of the preparation. I'm tired of waiting for the tickling clock.

It's weird to see how malay wedding has turned too nowadays. It's all about everything now. We have lost the actual value of a wedding; the actual purpose of having a wedding. My vote is still goes to the after event which is the marriage, not much on the wedding event. Not on the wedding preparation too. Marriage is what stays forever.

I am currently busy with workloads. Always on the go. I don't even have time to pee. Eh! itu tipu but I spent most of my time at the office. My initial plan was to start my leave two days before the event but I don't think it's fair for the family since mom is closing the shop early. Next Monday will be my last day before the long holiday. And since mom has just created a chaos, I regretted applying for an early leave. I should've applied my leave two days before the event. Baru mengelupor semua orang. I have to clear everything before my leave. It's either stay back for a bit longer (dah lah hari-hari memang balik lambat, di tambah dengan balik lambat kuasa dua) or resume work at home after a long day at the office. I'm picking both. I don't have much options, don't I?!

And that is the reason why I've been avoiding the wedding prep the whole week. I chose not to worry. I chose not to think about it. I chose to do work instead. 8 days of headache and this too shall past.

Poyo bride2be update #7

I guess we're 75% ready. Invitation were all sent (for those who have yet to receive, do let me know. I've posted everything on Friday morning and would probably reach your postbox latest by Tuesday if you're in Selangor/Kuala Lumpur area). For those who are staying outside from the area, give it till Friday next week. Kalau masih belum terima cepat-cepatlah mengirimkan khabar. Will definitely serang Pos Malaysia again for the second time.

We received another good news last Wednesday. All praise to Allah, Alhamdulillah. Rezeki last minute tuhan nak kasi. All that one needs to do is be patience. Berdoa dan bertawakal, Insyaallah rezeki ada untuk masing-masing.

Mom's renovated kitchen is 85% completed. Alhamdulillah. I know she's on the rack too when she sees the progression of her kitchen. Takut-takut tak sempat siap and while me on the other hand keep on bragging over her ridiculous decision on renovating the house when clearly the kenduri is just around the corner.

I guess that's all for now. Oh chop! question, what's the purpose of hiring a videographer? Seriously, I want to know. Is it really a must atau hanya untuk suka-suka? Videographer adalah untuk..............? Your help/info will be much appreciated. Tqvm.

Poyo bride2be update #6

I came home one evening and found this cute little thing lingered around the middle hall. Mak was so excited she just can't wait till I settle down and immediately shown the cute little thing to me. I was still with my bag on and my shoes were not even off after reaching home from work. As excited as she was, I am too!

It's called corsage but I think it has been mistakenly used by most bride-to-be(s). Corsage is known to be as a gift from a person to his/her partner and usually presented during a dance event/prom. But for weddings, it is the thing that family members tuck on the side of their clothes as to show that they are the family members or the person in charge for the wedding. But I still don't get it why it is called corsage.

So anyways, this cute little thing will be used among family members during the reception. Mak saw it at Semua House and it's very cheap too. She can't resisted it and bought it immediately. In a way, it saves up a lot of my time since I thought of diy-ing myself but since the thing is way cheaper than the cost of me diy-ing the corsage, I say why not?!

All I need to do now is to figure out how to put a two ringgit note at it so that it will look presentable and does not kill the cuteness.

On the other note, mom has come up with a brilliant idea to renovate the kitchen where I'm about to get married in one month time. The house is officially in a mess and Uncle Yap the contractor is scheduled to start his constructing tomorrow. I don't know where on earth does she gets the idea of renovating the kitchen now where she clearly knows that we are having the kenduri at home in a month time. Uncle Yap has promised her that the kitchen will be ready in a week time. Can you even believe that? I don't think so.


This is how the middle hall looks like. You should see how it is now, it's even worst.

Poyo bride2be update #5

Look who's back.

I went to collect my wedding invitation card this afternoon and my hormones are happy now, yey! Remember the rambling on me being a psychotic bride-to-be, taking public transportation and the fight with daddy just to get the card printed? Well ladies, it was totally worth the trouble.

The printing company called me up last week saying that my cards are ready for collection. I was quite nervous actually for the fact that my heart wasn't 100% confident with the printing people as:-

1. I don't get the type of paper that I wanted.
2. The color selection was quite limited. I was looking for creamy gold but unfortunately, they don't have such color. So I pick off-white instead.
   
3. I wasn't pretty sure if the design will turn out as what I wanted coz they don't prepare a mock up for me. If I were to test-print the card, that would cost me a lot as most printing company print in bulk and there's no such thing as test-print for wedding cards.
4. For the fact that Izwan condemned me much on the cost of the wedding card padahal takdelah mahal pon.
   

So when they called, I prayed hard that the cards will turn out well.

When the lady handed me my card (dalam hati tak putus-putus berselawat) I was relieved as the card looks exactly as how I wanted it to be. Simple, very very simple, very clean and straight forward, takde corak-corak semak kepala...........and simple. I love it!

Of course you silly, tak surprise lah kalau tunjuk kad di sini. This is just a sneak peak of my wedding card. I'm not that generous to show you how my wedding card looks like. Nanti bila dah dapat barulah tengok sendiri ye kawan-kawan. Don't worry, it is so simple that you'd probably say "simple-nya wedding card dia". Well, that's the kind of expression that I want. It's not pretty but it's simple. It's ME!

They gave 50 extra copies of my wedding card for free. Super generous!

Oh, for those who have no idea where to go to for wedding card printing, I recommend LH Creative Concept. They're located at Jalan Brunei, Off Jalan Pudu, Kuala Lumpur. If you have zero idea on how to do your wedding card, they have the solution. They have ample of samples on wedding cards that they have created. Price is negotiable. It depends on your quantity but not much on the design. Have a visit, you'll get the idea.

And if you're like me who designed your own wedding card, well they accept that too. Show your design and they'll help to match it with the paper that will suit your design. Sungguh akan rambang mata.

I have to say that I'm much relieved after receiving those cards. Stress-free.

Poyo bride2be update #4

Tiba-tiba update #4.

Anyways, I haven't been updating on my wedding progress for awhile now. Eh, ke baru je beberapa hari lalu?! So, here to the making of the Poyo bride-to-be.

Someone got his suit ready some time last month. You see, this is one of the reason why I hate being the bride. I have to go thought thousand and thousand of wedding magazines just to get the idea for my wedding dress. And when I finally had one in mind, I have to go through another thousand of processes from finding the good material to the final fitting just to meet the satisfaction. When everything is all set, the groom just need to find something nice that can match the bride's dress.

In my case, a suit is what Izwan's going to wear for the reception.

So, off we went to the tailor that has been sewing my dad's suit ever since.....hmm, I don't know, donkey years ago.

We went to the tailor in the early month of October. Oh, we decided to tempah his suit separately as Izwan wants it as his personal suit after the wedding. Dah alang-alang nak buat harta, might as well we do it properly. We went to the tailor, picked the material that is suitable for Izwan's skin (encik ini ada sensitive skin, kain tak boleh sebarangan pakai) and the tailor took his measurement right away.

And the suit is ready for pick-up 2 weeks later. Sangat sekejap. The suit and also the trousers.


It was nicely done. Saya yang suka lebih.

I hope my dress will turn out to be as nice as his. Mine won't be ready anytime soon; not till December I suppose. Baju perempuan memang selalu lambat. Tempah 5 bulan sebelum, fitting berkali-kali, siapnya 2-3 weeks before the wedding. Alasan, nanti measurement tak lari dengan saiz badan. Wth?!

Itulah orang kata, penantian adalah satu penyeksaan. Waiting for my wedding dress to be ready is one of the penyeksaan.

All that Izwan needs to do now is to get that tummy of his to be few inches smaller, boleh?

The poyo bride2be is back!

I went to have my reception dress fitting earlier this afternoon. Being the simple me, I just wore a pair of jeans and a Chelsea jersey together with a tak gosok black hijab to meet the wedding coordinator. That's the whole point of wearing a black hijab so that I won't be spending 10 minutes of my time ironing them.

Ok! that's another story. Back to this one.

Itu tak kira lagi selipar pink ala-ala tak berapa nak jepun. Nasib baik depan pintu kedai kena buka selipar/kasut. Kalau tak memang awesome habis!

Kak Ju, the wedding coordinator together with her assistant took the measurement while I stood still like one of her mannequin dressed nicely in a wedding attire. Tiba-tiba tak semena-mena, "rock habis bakal pengantin ni" and both of them laughed cynically (or so I thought). Nak dijadikan cerita, mereka ketawa sebab saya rock berdiri macam gangster pakai baju seselamba mungkin unlike the normal future bride that came to her boutique dressed se-perempuan habis atau dalam bahasa melayu aslinya, semolek-moleknya, lemah-lembut, ayu-mayu.

The same story applies when I was at Alor Star with the future mother in law for wedding dress hunting couple of days ago. As much as the FMIL wanted the over beaded baju pengantin, I, on the other hand preferred the super classic white kebaya songket. I'm a simple person you know, who loves simple things. Tak serabut mata memandang, tak pening kepala melihat. Tapi untuk sedapkan hati bakal ibu mertua, I took the beaded dress for the 2nd reception. Karang merajuk mak mertua habislah point I!! Kena reject siapa yang susah? Mak jugak nok!

We've secured the reception for both sides. Baju dah pilih. Masing-masing dengan temanya tersendiri (I have no say on this. The mother from both sides telah mencipta tema mereka sendiri) and all that we have to do now is to be mentally and physically ready (monetary too!) for the upcoming 80 days to come.

Ohh whhaatttttttttt??? *panic attack*

......the first prize of officially becoming a Bridezilla. Bukan takat bridezilla tetapi lebih daripada itu, Godzilla atau segala -zilla yang ada.

*Stress*

Ever since the acknowledgment of the remaining days left till my wedding day, I have been nothing but a worried bitch. My heart pumped faster than ever as if I was running on a track reaching for the finishing line. I wasn't able to sleep at night which is very crucial coz I haven't been sleeping well for the past 4 nights. Baru mata nak lelap dah terjaga and ended up being grumpy in the morning. Itu sangat tak bagus. It's depressing. It is, really!

The word P.S.Y.C.H.O. is written nicely on my forehead. I need to scrub the word off pronto! Else, I'll be reaching Tanjung Rambutan anytime soon which is not good for the resume. Heh, takde kena-mengena! Argh! I hate this feeling. The feeling of insecurities. The feeling of killing yourself. The feeling of unable to speak. The feeling of running away.

*Tired*

Is this normal? Coz I don't think it is. I think it's crazy! I think all bride-to-be(s) should go for one last medical check-up before their wedding day. I know I am coz I think one of my wire has gone missing. Better still, all wires are gone and I am officially disfunctional. I'm a retard, yes I am! Ok, I'm crapping.

So there you go! The updated check list of things to do before the wedding day. I'm tired. Exhausted. Seriously I am. I just pray that the remaining 90 days will past as quickly as it can coz I can foresee the breaking down of me anytime soon. I need a break. From work and all these wedding preparation crap. From work sebenarnya. Work is depressing. But I need the money though *sigh*.

Lets go cuti-cuti before masuk kerja baru. Anyone?!

Wedding checklist

Seperti yang dijanjikan. Ini adalah attempt pertama dalam merealisasikan impian untuk menjadi seorang b2b yang poyo. Jadi, untuk percubaan pertama ini, here are the checklist of things that need to be done and things that have already been cleared.


SUDAH LANGSAI

Wedding reception: 8 PM

Solemnization: Home sweet home
Wedding reception: A garden house at Taman Melawati

Attire:-
Solemnization: A cousin who is the responsible tailor for one of top designer in the country. Oleh yang demikian, kemudahan untuk mendapatkan keberkesanan serupa seperti menghantar baju ke designer tersebut adalah lebih kurang 99.9% serupa cuma dengan kadar upah yang lebih murah. Since he is the tailor in charge, we bought the material for both bride & groom at a very very VERY low rate. Like SUPER low! Oh and the actual designer for my baju nikah is my mother who actually got the inspiration by one of the dresses she saw at BSC laundry shop.
Reception: Designed by yours truly and my parents for the groom's suit.

Wedding planner: My mother who is also the Creative Director, the CEO, Managing Director, General Manager, and a full time Director for both events. She is also the best, I repeat, THE BEST negotiator in town.

Canopy: It so happened that the canopy owner is a friend of my father's. We rented 8 canopies and got 2 FOC canopies.

Caterer: Orang kampung saya yang akan menghidangkan juadah makanan original Minang and a cousin of mine will be preparing the dishes for the solemnization to feed the northern side of the family.

Hiasan bunga pahar: The mother of the bride (ibunda saya lah siapa lagi)

Photographer: A friend of mine.

AV: A cousin of mine who is also a professional event coordinator/MC

Attire:
Reception: For the reception. Tukang jahit kata dia akan call after raya week. To also find a nice pair of heels that can fit both dresses.

Hantaran: Will be decorated by my cousin's mother-in-law who volunteered to help with the decoration for free. Oh, she has been decorating hantarans her entire life. So, gaya dan taste-nya amatlah dipercayai. Oh please take note that she will be doing for both bride & groom. To get all the stuff for hantaran before December comes.

Invitation card: To get it printed and distribute to the guest latest by the first week of December 2010.

Wedding cake: to be confirmed (sama ada mahu atau tidak mahu sebab saya bagitau ibunda saya yang saya tidak mahu)


So there you go. The checklist of my wedding day. These are only the list that I can recall at the moment. Nanti bila-bila ingat akan ditambah lagi from time to time. Tapi ingat, majlis ini bukan untuk membazir. Segalanya haruslah dilakukan dalam kadar yang berpatutan dan TIDAK MEMBAZIR.

Sehingga bertemu lagi dalam percubaan untuk menjadi bride yang poyo.

Bridezilla what??

While waiting for Izwan to come home (chehh dah macam bini tunggu lakinya pulang kerja pula. Coz he need to call me before I go to sleep) and while waiting for these eyes to shut down, I browsed through some b2b blog(s). Yes, I'm not going to deny for not reading them. I do, in fact I enjoy myself reading them. Reading the excitement one expresses. Sungguh menghiburkan dengan kadang-kadang timbul rasa geli pon ada (selalu sebenarnya). I found the link to a Bridezilla quiz here.

For those who don't know, bridezilla is a term used by most bride to be(s) during the process of preparing for their wedding. It shows the expression of the bride while dealing/handling her wedding prep. Pendek kata, kadar ke-gelabah-an seseorang pengantin itu. I think so-lah! Apa yang saya tahu adalah perkataan ini mengambil perkataan Godzilla sebagai kata dasarnya. Maka terciptalah Bridezilla. I don't see the resemblance but what the heck, alang-alang dah nak jadi bride-to-be, gunakan aje term-nya. Barulah se-aliran. Ok, kodi gile!

Jadi kepada sesiapa yang seangkatan dengannya (I know Farizah is!), jika mahu menguji tahap ke-bridezilla-an anda, sila jalani ujian di atas.
