Because...I'm happy

Yes, I am happy because today is the last working day for me as we are boarding for our annual company trip tomorrow. Location is to be revealed when I'm back from the trip. Shall write about it soon.

The first group has boarded the plane about an hour ago. And today is basically the day for me to clear what ever that is pending and hope to enjoy the trip with no worries.

With that, I would love to enjoy it with William Pharrell's Happy

So ladies......

Because I’m happy
Clap along if you feel like a room without a roof
Because I’m happy
Clap along if you feel like happiness is the truth
Because I’m happy
Clap along if you know what happiness is to you
Because I’m happy
Clap along if you feel like that’s what you wanna do

Enjoy the long weekend break you workaholic people. See you in May!
Ohh emm gee, it's May already!!!

Are you girls prepared for a job interview?

I started sending my resume right after I completed my degree. I was so busy beautifying my resume just to impress the company for the job that I'm applying. Little that I know, the most important aspect for a job interview is not just on the attractive resume but also on the appearance during the job interview season.

I still remember being so stressful receiving job interview calls from either the job recruitment company or from the company itself. Stressed because I don't know how to prepare myself for the interview. I don't know what are their expectations towards me? Stressed on the right dress or pants that I should wear for the interview or which tops that will help to boost my professionalism look during the interview season. Picking the right scarf was also a problem for me. Which style should I apply? Will the simple selempang style will bring down my professionalism look or having to put a roll-over style will make me look presentable? Clueless much, I normally just go with my instinct - betul ke, salah ke, hentam je janji confident!

Yes, being confident is the most important thing during any job interviews. But then again, how do you know that you're confident enough to make your interview season an interesting one? Tambahan pula if you really really desperately want that job and that you're being over-confident for it. Being over-confident can pull you down, you know? So, know your confident level and it will definitely helps you to nail your interview season.

Lucky me, I have passed these phases of going in and out for job interviews. And for you lucky girls, Libresse is currently running a campaign just to help you girls to prepare yourselves for any interview seasons. Baik hati kan Libresse ni! Being clueless and all, this campaign will definitely help you to give a clear picture on what to prepare, the dos and don'ts and everything that you need to know on job interviews.

So, if you somehow see this banner below:-

Why do we need to study for exams?

Isn't this looks familiar?

I have to admit, I am still experiencing this situation especially when it comes to the examination week. I can never settled myself reading the book or revising the hand-outs for the examination and end-up writing nonsense on the answering sheets. Goreng sampai hangus dijilat api. Itulah strategy-nya.

I just don't understand how lawyers do it. How can they actually sit still reading all the notes that are related to their cases or revising on the case studies to firm up their arguments or reading and understanding the regulations to defend their cases. Ini gila namanya. Salute you all lawyers!

I mean, don't get me wrong. I love to read - story books that is. I don't like to read facts and data. I read fictional story books for fun not for life. Sebab tu lah tak jadi a lawyer or a doctor. Satu, sebab tak berapa cukup bijak and secondly, sebab tak cukup membaca.

Final exam is coming soon. I'm a bit clueless on what's happening this semester. We haven't touch on our main assignments yet and my individual write-up is also nowhere to be seen. So, wish me luck friends!

Financial (Credit Card) Scam

I'm not sure if I have posted on financial scam before but this is the second time I experienced being a scam victim.

About a year ago, I received a phone call from Unify telling me that I have an outstanding billing amounting RM1K+. Naively, I agreed to informed them on all of my bank account details. Yes, as stupid as it sounds, I actually did informed them on all of my details of my bank accounts from my personal bank detail to the one where my salary's in. Lucky me, Allah masih mahu melindungi hambaNya yang bodoh ini, my balance money wasn't that attractive for them to withdraw. I only had RM50 in my bank account. Jadi, tak jadilah mereka nak ambik.

And you know why I trusted them? They actually informed me on Bank Negara contact person where I can make a report on this scam. Bijak tak mereka-mereka ni? Dah lah buat scam, lepas tu berjaya meng-convince-kan kita yang kita dah kena scam. So, the supposedly Bank Negara contact person made all the necessary report with all my banking details.

I told my husband about it and he said that this is actually a scam and that the Bank Negara personnel is not from Bank Negara and I don't believe him when he told me about it because they sound so very convincing. On the day I met with my Bank Negara client, I told them about it and it was confirmed that I have been scammed.

Yesterday, I received another call from Ambank credit card. I was told that I have an outstanding payment of RM3K+. It was the auto voice machine that "called" me. I pressed "9" to confirm on the statement and it led me to this Cina Ah-Beng "customer service" personnel. Dengan agak ragu-ragu, I asked that person on the assurance of him working with Ambank credit card contact centre because clearly, he doesn't speak fluent English and definitely does not sound like a customer service person. Dengan nada yang marah I told him that I don't own any Ambank credit card. I actually screamed at him and he finally hung up on me.

Nasiblah kerja tempat yang kelilingnya bank centres, I walked to Ambank to make a report. Luckily, I'm not trapped with this scam sebab I did not inform them on any of my personal details jadi mereka tak dapat nak trace apa-apa information.

Few things I learned while confirming with Ambank personnel:-

  1. Any bank will never call anyone with a direct phone no. Normally, it will appears as "Private Number" on your phone. Never will it be a direct phone number like +603-465 2016. If this happens, please note that it is a scam
  2. Credit card personnel will never call anyone for transaction confirmation. It will always be an SMS notification.
  3. Once they ask for confirmation on credit card number, surely it's a scam.
  4. Scam is very random. They will randomly call anyone to try their luck.
  5. They will convince you with Bank Negara contact person. This is also a scam.
  6. If ragu-ragu, go directly to the bank to make clarifications
Jadi kawan-kawan, berhati-hatilah. Kita semua adalah mangsa scam which I wonder, why they always attack me?

And because we are sucker for social media

This is my third post for today. Wah! Wah! Wah! Hebat bukan. Macam dah takde kerja sampai boleh nak post tiga articles. Selalunya, nak post satu article in one week pon susah, inikan pula tiga! I must be very free today, aren't I?

Well, I'm not that free actually. It's just that my mind is not here at the workplace and my focus is mostly at home. Inilah dia masalah #thirdworldcountry

Anyway, I have another third world country problem that I'm currently facing.

You know how much attached you are with your social networking accounts? Just like any other heavy social networking users, I have my Facebook account, Twitter and Instagram that connect me with my friends. Twitter is somehow more personal. Although I have set the privacy level to "friends only" for all of my social accounts but I do not add my colleagues on my twitter. Hence, it is actually a place where I ramble on how sucky my work is, or on things that I don't agreed on. Basically, my twitter account is the place for me to complain about my disagreements (mostly!). Tempat melepas geram dalam bahasa melayu nya.

Normally, I will sign out from my twitter account every morning before leaving for work. This is to keep the data entry into the lowest level (jimat duit lah katakan, maxis cekik darah didn't you know?!) and will re-sign-in when I'm back from work sebab rumah guna wifi so data tak guna sangat. Cheapskate, I know!

But today, I decided to re-sign-in in the office sebab nak meroyan sedikit di dalam twitter sekali an error appears.

Well, for some people, it is not a big of a deal. Just key-in your email address and they will send in the new password, siap! But, this doesn't work for me. I'm no longer using the email address that I registered for my twitter account. It is even worst when the email address has been deactivated. So, if they send the reset password to that account, I, on the other hand won't be able to receive it. Oh no! Macam mana nak meroyan ni!!

This is an example of how attached one person is with her social networking account. I have to admit that this twitter account of mine is like my best friend. She listens to me on everything that I rambled. She don't judge. She's always on my side whenever I need her the most. Oh no! It is as if this twitter really "bernyawa". And I'm started to feel lost without it. Sedihnya.

I have a very good relationship with my twitter account. Why is twitter doing this to me? I still need a place to ramble. I still need a place where I can just say anything without having to worry on what people will say about me. Bottom line is, I STILL NEED MY TWITTER!!

Sedihnya tak terkata rasa macam nak menangis. Oh yes, I am such a dramatic person. Over-emotional over irrelevant things in life. I still need my twitter, please!

Air oh air, dimanakah kau air?

It's been close to two months now since SYABAS did the water rationing in most of the major housing areas in Selangor and Klang Valley. And it's been nothing but a disaster to all of us. With the two days with and without water schedule has put us all in an emotional situation whereby we have to outsource our water supply elsewhere. And it's tiring! Tired of having to go out and get out water supply, re-filling our water tank just to make sure that we have enough supplies for the upcoming two days of no water.

Ini betul-betul menguji tahap kesabaran diri sendiri.

Rumah dah jadi tunggang langgang sebab there were times when the water just couldn't re-fill the house water tank and that, we have to depend solely on the direct water supply. The downside of the direct water supply is that often, they were in yellowish in color. Means, the water that is coming into our house is not the clean water even after being filtered. Imagine if we do not have the water filter, memang kuning habis lah.

Our routine has changed 180 degrees. Luckily, mom's school memang ada air. Jadi, every night without fail we will go to her school to mandi. Bayangkan, balik kerja penat-penat sampai rumah pukul 9pm pastu bergegas salin baju sebab nak pergi mandi and tadah air bersih. And on weekends, memang lagi meriahlah kerja mencari air.

Laundry, memang tak payah cakap. Nak kena tunggu air ada baru boleh basuh kalau tak mandi sebaldi seorang pun belum tentu cukup.

Well, for people like me (and my mum and sister), having limited of water supply is not really a problem as we practices having bath once a day - iaitu di waktu pagi sebelum pergi kerja (wajib). Ye, kami memang busuk begitu. But not for people like my husband and dad who take bath more than four times a day. I just don't understand why they need to take bath that much in a day (orang busuk memang tak faham keperluan untuk mandi, LOL). But having a little girl in the house makes it even more difficult. We have to ensure that the water supply is very clean as Iman has a very sensitive skin. There was one time where I washed her clothes using the washing machine (normally, I hand-wash it) and her skin started to grow rashes. Kesian dia. It took her more than a week to get the rashes off her body. Nasib baik tak gatal teruk or else, dah berlarian anak kami ke hospital.

The latest news on water rationing is that they are going to extend it till July which is until Raya. They can't be serious about this, right? How can they do this to the rakyat?

If this still unchanged and that, they are still insisted in extending the water rationing until July, I seriously don't know what to say. We have been ruled by stupid inconsiderate people in our country. I wonder where have all the intelligent people gone to.

Oh, and one more thing. I will be very disappointed if the authority really politicized this issue because this is something that they shouldn't be politicized. Ini adalah keperluan rakyat bukan untuk di-politik-an.

Sekian sahaja coretan dukacita saya. Saya adalah rakyat yang prihatin. Semoga isu ini tidak lagi berpanjangan. Two months is already a long period, I don't think any one of us can stand until July.

Monday-not-so-blues

Assalamualaikum and good morning girls (I'm assuming my readers are all girls and I'm assuming that I actually have readers who read my crappy blog posts). How are you feeling today? Hopefully, you are feeling great as I am.

Unlike any other Mondays, I'm actually feeling very energetic this morning. Like most mornings, I wake-up quite early to get my assignments done and a quick nap before getting myself ready for work. But somehow today, I did not dragged myself to work, oh well! oh well! Big improvement I would say.

I guess this is due to the fun times I had with my girl over the weekend. I was husband-less last weekend and I was left alone with Iman with my assignments piling up high like nobody's business. My aim was to get everything done so that I do not have to wake-up early every morning. And Allah SWT hears me. He gave me the most obedient daughter (surprise! surprise!) that accompanied me throughout my weekends just to make sure that I completed my assignments. Syukur, alhamdulillah.

I'm not saying that Iman is not obedient. She is! Normally, weekends is where she'll bullied me to play hide and seek, running/jogging non-stop in the house and non-stop nenen-ing but last weekend was totally different. All she did was sitting next to me quietly to teman me do my assignments. Good girl Iman, good girl!

I'm glad that I have such an understanding daughter. Semoga Allah lindungi Iman dan jadikan dia anak yang solehah. Amin

Have a nice week ahead girl. Just remember to take your vitamins.

World Toughest Job

I bet everyone has watched this ever interesting video and I'm sure most of us cried watching it.

This is what we called the power of advertising.

We complaint much in our lives. We always think that we are being used and being under paid, in our working life. We think that we have that speciality in us that others don't hence, the demand.

But we always forget that one person, one person who has it all. She does almost everything. She will always be there for us whenever we needed her. She spent most of her time making sure that we have everything that we needed. And often, we tend to over-used her speciality. We tend to take her for granted because we know that she will never, never leave us.

And yes, she is our mother. The one person who understands us in and out.

So friends, do your job and appreciate that one person who loves you unconditionally.

I love you mom!

Appraisal...what?

It's that time of the year again and I'm scratching my head reviewing my one year plan and working objectives.

At this point of time, I don't think I have any plans yet! My plan stands on ....... quitting and be a full time mum, boleh?!

Happy Wednesday lovelies and have a nice week ahead. Three more days to the weekend and I'm counting hours now.

Happy 63rd birthday, mum!

Every year without fail we will either have birthday lunch or dinner celebrating the parents' birthday. Itu adalah acara wajib setiap tahun. And since my sister and I dah bekerjaya (chewah!), we try to make an afford to at least give them something special on their birthday.

Bukan selalu kitaorang nak bagi birthday present as we are not as fortunate as other people but alhamdulillah, I know now my parents are very happy. They have worked so hard to raise us and this is one of our ways to pay them back for all their hard work.

So, I suggested that we give our mum a new wallet for this year's birthday. And since she loves Burberry so much, why not?

Maka, berjalan-jalanlah kami sekeluarga ke KLCC untuk memilih wallet pilihan ibu tercinta.

Happy 63rd birthday mum. Hope you like the gift. There is no words to describe how much I love you. Being a mother myself, I understand now, how much sacrifices you have made just to make sure that your children "jadi orang". You are one strong woman and I pray to Allah to grant you happiness here and the afterlife. Thank you mum. Love you to the moon and back.

It's so sick being sick

One of my 2014 goal is to have zero MC. Why? Because everyone who has zero MC will get RM300 worth of voucher given by the company. Best kan?

For a not healthy person like me, this mission is something that I really need to work hard in order to achieve. I have had 10 days of MC averagely every year which I think is very bad. If 10 out of 60 people in the company can have zero MC, why can't I?

So, I decided to be a healthy person in 2014. I make sure I have sufficient amount of greens in my meal, I take vitamins regularly and drink plenty of warm water. One thing that I failed miserably is my coffee intake. It increases by day which is very very bad. Blame it all on the workloads.

Nonetheless, with this "healthy" routine, I have successfully free myself from being sick since the first day of 2014. Alhamdulillah! Tetapi Allah itu maha adil, kun faya kun, bila ia mahukan sesuatu terjadi, maka terjadilah ia.

I was down with fever last couple of days. I wasn't feeling that sick on Sunday but it got worst on Monday morning. I went to see the doctor and biasalah, it's my sinus. He gave me the usual meds and off I go. It got better for few hours. It was kinda weird because I don't feel any drowsiness upon taking the meds. Sekali, lepas Maghrib I started to feel very very weak. Slept the whole evening and mulalah mengigil di malam hari.

I went to see the doctor again this morning. Apparently, my sinus has worsen. He gave me a stronger meds and hopefully it eases the pain. Maka, hancurlah harapan untuk zero MC as I am already on a 2 days medical leaves.

Semoga sakit ini menghapuskan segala dosa-dosa kecil. Amin

Zero MC in 2015 perhaps?

"Eat your veggies, Iman"

Watching my lil cousins growing up hating all the green veggies makes me want my children to not to hate them. I want to make sure that they love them as much as I do. I just don't get it why some people just don't like to eat veggies. There are very good - for your health mentally and physically.

A kiasu mom I am, I already started introducing Iman to all sorts of veggies every since her first day of consuming solids. I made broccoli, sweet potato, carrot puree for her. Of course, they were made separately and Alhamdulillah, she has no problem eating them. She even likes it she eats it raw. I boil the carrot/broccoli in a soup and she eats it with her hand. I just hope this eating behaviour stays forever.

With just a little bit of white meat, I'm turning Iman into a vegetarian I think! I guess I don't mind if she wants it too.

I guess I'm not really that kiasu mom, I found this article online on the importance of kids and vegetable which I believe is very useful especially for us the first time mums. (source: themalaysianinsider)

---------------------------------------------------------
Faced with a nine-month old who makes faces at anything green, or a toddler who throws a tantrum at the sight of a carrot, many parents are tempted to give up on getting their kids to enjoy veggies.

But the findings of the HabEat project – a multidisciplinary Pan-European study of how food behaviours are formed in infants and children – give parents plenty of reasons to persevere.

At the final symposium of the project, held in Dijon, France on March 31 and April 1, the research teams also presented practical recommendations for improving children's intake of fruit and vegetables.

Initiated in January 2010 by 11 partner organisations from five European countries, the HabEat project followed the eating habits of several cohorts of children (aged six months to six years) over a four-year period.

The goal: to understand how eating habits are formed and sometimes broken during the first years of life.

Using various psychological, epidemiological, behavioural and nutritional analyses, the project sought to identify the key mechanisms in the development of children's taste or distaste for certain foods.

At the end of the project, researchers' recommendations all centre around one essential point: children must be taught to enjoy fruits and vegetables at the earliest age possible.

The project's findings also emphasise the importance of diversity in the diet, suggesting that children should be introduced to a wide variety of fruits and vegetables early on.

For better chances of success, researchers advise introducing only one new fruit or vegetable per meal, without combining them.

Parents should act as role models during the process, encouraging their child to appreciate fruits and vegetables without forcing them.

In fact, coercive techniques and reward-based motivations ("Eat your sprouts and you'll get cake") can be counterproductive, as they alter a child's natural ability to gauge hunger and satiety, leading to a risk of compulsive eating and obesity later in life.

It is better to trust the child's appetite, however fickle it may be. Sometimes, the same vegetable may be offered and rejected eight to 10 times over the course of a few weeks before a child finally takes a liking to it.

For older children, being involved in the cooking process can lead to more willingness to try new foods, especially if parents and caretakers bring them along to farmer's markets to help pick out fruits and vegetables.

Finally, the HabEat project concludes that breastfeeding plays a vital role in the development of healthy eating habits.

Researchers found a positive correlation between the number of months an infant was breastfed and the quantity of fruit and vegetables he or she consumed during later childhood.

Big breakfast @ Kaffe Cafe, TTDI

Thanks to Groupon, we were able to get 4pax of all-day big breakfast at Kaffe Cafe, TTDI for 66% discount.

I purchased this attractive deal last February. There was a post on Mukha Cafe I wrote quite some time ago. We were supposed to have the breakfast there but ended up going to Mukha as the crowd was just madness. Finally, after two months of delay, we were able to make our visit to the cafe last Saturday. Taj couldn't make it as she had to leave for Sarawak on Friday. Good news, we were enjoying her portion to ourselves.

Like any other big breakfast, they have the scrambled eggs with toasted bread, sausages, hash brown, beef bacon and salted mushroom and baked tomato as the side dishes. I had them with my large cup of black coffee.

Rasanya bagaimana ya?

It was just so-so. I have tasted better big breakfast elsewhere. I wasn't expecting any good taste out of it. We purchased this simply because it's.... cheap!

Kaffe Cafe isn't the best choice to go to for breakfast/brunch. There are other cafes that serve nicer delicious food for breakfast/brunch but if you really have no choice, I guess why not! The bacon was a bit salty.

But what's important was I had it with my favourite girls. The company that's important, not much on the food though.
