Rendang Minang Hajah Kayah

Rendang Minang has always been our main dishes for raya. Tak lengkap raya kalau tak dihidangkan Rendang Minang dengan ketupat di pagi hari raya. Ever since I was young, I always help to "kacau" my late grandma while she prepares the rendang. I remember seeing her squeezing bags of kelapa parut (grated coconut) to get a fresh coconut milk for the rendang. She'll go up and down for the rendang and no one, no one is allow to disturb her while she prepares the rendang.

It took us 4-5 hours at least to get the rendang cooked as it is cook directly from the kayu api. This Rendang Minang is traditionally cooked that way and that is what so special about it.

No one in the family knows or have the patience to cook rendang hence it is always being prepared by my late grandmother. Well, not blaming anyone though but my late grandma doesn't really share the recipe with others, not even to her daughters.

One day, my uncle decided to learn how to prepare the rendang. Nenek doesn't favors sharing her rendang recipe with others but lucky Abg Eri (the uncle), nenek decided to share her ilmu memasak rendang with him. It took him years to master the skills. Yes, you need the skills to masak Rendang Minang else it won't jadi.

Nasiblah ilmu turun ke anak, my uncle is the one now responsible preparing us the Rendang Minang.

Now, we are taking a step further with our Rendang Minang. Instead of having it to us only, we are now commercialize it and share the good taste of our home-made Rendang Minang with all of you rendang lovers. We are still keeping it on a traditional way - cooking it on the kayu api hence we ensure the good quality and long lasting good taste of the Rendang Minang.

This is how it looks like after rounds of re-hit.

A good rendang can last for a month, I'm no kidding. It even tastes good after rounds of re-hit. Sedap hingga menjilat jari.

We have rendang ayam and daging. PM if you are interested with our rendang or email me at ajlaa0907@gmail.com for enquiries.

We are open for orders at any of your convenience as rendang is not only served during festive season, it is also good to be served with hot white rice (nasi putih) or during weddings/events.

So now you know where to get a good taste of Rendang Minang.

p/s: If you're not sure of ke-minang-an this rendang is, well, to be honest, the rendang is prepared by a proud Minang-born lady. Yes, we are the Minang-clan!
